William Teegarden Obituary

William J. "Bill" Teegarden Augusta William J. "Bill" Teegarden, age 78, passed away suddenly on November 3, 2010 at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, FL. He was born on November 22, 1931 in Humboldt, Kansas to Noah and Minta (Judd) Teegarden. Bill was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Manual High School. He went to college in Missouri for two years, later joining the Marines in 1952 during the Korean Conflict, where he served until 1954. Bill married Phyllis L. Lear on April 20, 1957, living in Missouri until August 1957, moving to Portland, Michigan. In 1960, they moved to Battle Creek, Michigan and opened Teegarden's Market in Level Park, selling it in 1980. He also worked for Cello-Foil, Bedford Township and was a driver for Holsum Bakery, Post Gardens and K Drive Greenhouse, retiring in 1994. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Bedford Lodge 207, the Level Park Men's Club and the American Legion. Bill enjoyed flying with the Raggedy Anne Club and his family many places in their private plane. Bill also enjoyed boating, golfing, traveling and casinos. He was a winter resident of Okeechobee, Florida since 1998. Bill is survived by his wife: Phyllis L. Teegarden, two daughters: Lynn (Mike) Norrod and Lee (David) Buschke, son: Jay W. (Angel) Teegarden, brother: Donald (Diane) Teegarden of Battle Creek, eight grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and family friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, with a memorial service to follow at 12 Noon in the Bachman Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
