John Regis Obituary

John J "Johnnie" Regis Hickory Corners Passed away January 1, 2011. John was born April 18, 1944 in Detroit, the son of Battista and Serena (Fondie) Regis. On August 28, 1965, John married Jacklyn "Jackie" Gibbons, who survives. A loyal General Motors employee, John retired after thirty one years of service and was very active in the UAW Local 488. An avid automobile mechanic, John enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, and the Green Bay Packers; of which he was a stockholder. A member of St Ambrose Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, John was also very active in scouting, Little League, and was a volunteer for the Food Bank of Southwest Michigan for many years. John is also survived by his children: Todd Regis, Timothy (Kaye) Regis, Troy Regis, Thomas (Erin) Regis, and Tammy (Jason) Morse, brothers and sisters: Jim (June) Regis, Sandy Gimpleson, Joseph Regis, Shirley (Mike Fecteau) Regis, Jeff Regis and Sue (Dale) Bates, grandchildren: Sidney and MacKenzie Morse, Catey and Anna Regis, Khriesteenia, Zachary, and Kami Regis, father in law and mother in law: Harold and Aris Gibbons, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Williams - Gores Funeral Home, Delton, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St Ambrose Catholic Church,11137 Floria Rd, Delton, Rev. Fr. David Adams, celebrant. Burial will take place at East Hickory Corners Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, please consider memorial contributions to the Food Bank of Southwest Michigan. I remember when grandpa would babysit me he would have me fall asleep in his arms and then he would fall asleep and grandma would get mad when we got into trouble and he didn't realize.

Please accept Patty and my condolences. Unfortunately we weren't able to meet your Dad but knowing you, (Tim) says a bunch! He obviously was a kind and generous man, as well as a fun guy, even being a packers fan that could throw a bowling ball showed character. Tim and family we are very sorry and wish there was a way to send a hug.
