Bertram Zheutlin Obituary

Dr. Bertram Zheutlin Hickory Corners Dr. Bertram Zheutlin, 89, of Hickory Corners, died September 28, 2010 at home. He was born January 12, 1921, the son of William and Diana (Jaffee) Zheutlin in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dr. Zheutlin graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City, NJ, received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1941 and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University Medical School in 1944. Dr. Zheutlin served as a physician in the U. S. Army Medical Corps in France and Germany during WWII from 1944 to 1946 and was discharged as a Captain. He then received his specialty training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the University of Michigan Medical School from 1946-1950. From 1950 until retiring in 1988, Dr. Zheutlin practiced medicine in Battle Creek. Dr. Zheutlin is survived by his wife Marilyn (Chaimson) Zheutlin of Hickory Corners; their children, Dr. Terry Zheutlin-Kehoe (Dr. Richard Kehoe) of Chicago, Mary Peterman (Dr. David Peterman) of Boise, Idaho, Sandra Roth (Dr. Howard Roth) of Chicago, Dr. Jeffrey Zheutlin of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, William Peterman, Baylie Roth, Andrew Peterman, Whitney Roth, Alex Zheutlin, Logan Roth, Austin Zheutlin, Emily Zheutlin, Charles Roth, and his sister, Shirley Grekin of Seattle. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dr. Zheutlin was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha fraternity at Johns Hopkins University Medical School; a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology; a Fellow and a member of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. & Mrs. Zheutlin enjoyed wintering in Sanibel, Florida. A graveside service will take place 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek with Rabbi Harvey Spivak, Congregation of Moses, officiating. Memorials may go to Johns Hopkins University Medical School, Fund for Johns Hopkins, 100 N. Charles St., Ste. 216, Baltimore, MD, 21201; or a charity of one's choice.
