Lieselotte Sandovale Obituary

Lieselotte Margarethe Sandovale Battle Creek Lieselotte (Lisa) M. Sandovale, née Schweitzer, age 73, passed away on December 29, 2010 after a courageous battle against lung cancer. Surviving are her daughters Christa Monique Sandovale residing in Frankfurt, Germany, Sandra Kathleen Spiering (Sandovale), married to Lt. Col. Patrick Spiering, her grandchildren Gabriella and Joshua, residing in Huntingtown, Maryland and her ex-husband, Joe Sandovale, residing in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Lisa was born near Düsseldorf, Germany, on April 3, 1937, to Gertrud née Gross, and Hilarius Schweitzer. Over the years she traveled extensively throughout the United States, England as well as Europe. While working in Paris, France, she met her future husband, who was stationed in Würzburg, Germany at the time. Lisa and Joe were married from 1966 to 1980. She was employed at EPI Printers for 28 years as an Accountant and Estimator. She retired in 2003. Her greatest passion was table tennis which she enjoyed for many years, earning numerous medals at the Senior Olympics. Spending time with her German and Austrian friends, whether traveling or hosting parties, brought her great joy as well. These friendships gave her immense comfort and strength during the past year. Lisa's other hobbies were photography, gardening and working in her yard. She loved to share her knowledge of flowers and plants with anyone who would listen. Memorial Service will take place at Farley Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Battle Creek Cancer Care Center or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care Residence.
