As a teen I worked for Mr. Probal taking care of lawn maintenance for several of his rental properties as well as cleaning the beach area at his residence.
Mr. Probal was a firm man but fair.
I just learned of his passing.
My condolences to his friends and surviving family.
He will be missed.

Oh how I remember growing up next door. It was a special time in my life that will never be forgotten. Jo and Fred, your family and mine are forever intertwined and it pains me to have missed so much over these past few years. Even though distance have come between us, we have stayed in contact. Big Fred, as we called him, was always there to give a helping hand. I just wished he would have done it when it was our turn to weed those border trees! Those fur trees were no more that 5 feet tall back then and have grown to be as massive as his heart was. I will always have a warm place in my heart for such a generous person and hope that you two will take comfort in knowing that he and Annette are now together once again. He will always be there for us and I pray you will know that we all love you and wish you peace in this time of sorrow. He will be greatly missed in person but his spirit lives on with each and everyone that was fortunate enough to know him.

I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of Manfred. May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. When Manfred was one of my real estate agents at Select Real Estate Company. I was blessed with his kindness, support and willingness to help. It was my honor to have known Fred while he proudly served on the City of Battle Creek, Assessing Department, Board of Review. I will surely miss seeing him stop into city hall to say "Hello", share some daily news, get information on a home he was listing or inquiring about or just paying a bill. Even though he no longer served on our board of review, he never forgot us. There was much of Fred's Journey that I did not know of and want to thank his family for the very informative and wonderfully put story of his life. I, for one, will miss his fine candies--he would deliver to us at christmas time. His concern always was with his wife and he rarely focused on his own health struggles and now I know why....he was one tough cookie. Rest In Peace, Fred. To his surviving family--I am sorry for your loss

I believe Fred never met a person he did not call friend. He didn't just ask in passing "How are you", like it was a statement. He looked you in the eye, holding your hand you just extended, and ask "How are you today?" He will be missed, but carried in all our hearts. If you were to ask him how he is today, he would say, "just wonderful" and then he would give you a kiss or a hug. Those I'll miss...see you in heaven Fred.
