Rachel Schoenhals Obituary

Rachel "Ann" Schoenhals Battle Creek Rachel "Ann" Schoenhals, 91, died peacefully at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility on Friday, January 28, 2011. She was born April 12, 1919 in Coldwater, MI to Herbert and Mildred (Waffle) Sloman. Ann grew up in Coldwater, graduated from Coldwater High School and attended W.M.U. two years. She retired from the Berrien County Friend of the Court, where she worked as an investigator, for over ten years. Ann married John D. Schoenhals on August 31, 1940. On December 21, 1994, she was preceded in death by her husband. Ann is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Tom) Black of Battle Creek; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles for over 53 years. She was a loving mother, who treasured her many friendships. At the request of the family, friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Tim Smoothers 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. BETSY AND FAMILY,
