Virginia Bolhuis Obituary

Virginia A. Bolhuis Battle Creek Virginia A. (Nugent) Bolhuis, 86, of Battle Creek, went home to be with her Lord on November 20, 2010 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, after a one-year battle with bone cancer. She was born December 21, 1923 in Clawson, Michigan, to Leo and Vienna (Cole) Nugent, and grew up in Bear Lake. During World War ll, she was a 'Rosie the Riveter,' who wired Army tanks. Later, she worked for Packaging Corporation in Manistee and then owned Vacation Lane resort in Ludington. She also lived and worked in the Grand Rapids area for more than 20 years, before moving to Battle Creek in 2002. Virginia was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and attended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church at the Heritage. She belonged to Fredonia Home Grange, participating in its quilting group. Virginia enjoyed Bible study, crafts, and her large collection of stuffed giraffes. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was married to William Fink from 1942 to 1977, to Theodore Jager from 1980 to 2002, and to John Bolhuis from 2002 until April 2010. She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents. Virginia is survived by daughters, Mary Ann (Larry) Rebert of Delton, and Claudia (Larry) Linsley of Battle Creek; sister, Joan (Harold) Myers of Newaygo; grandchildren, Wyatt Shaw, Christy Linsley Ragle, Jeremy Linsley, Carrie Linsley Zeilstra, Holly Rebert, and April Rebert; six great-grandchildren; two nieces, a nephew, cousins and special friend, Linda Hayes, of Battle Creek. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Shaw Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Committal service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 Fairview Cemetery, Bear Lake. Memorial contributions may go to Fredonia Home Grange, Faith Baptist Church or Radio Bible Class. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home. www.shawfuneralhome.com
