Wayne Carnell Obituary

Wayne Harmon Carnell Battle Creek Wayne Harmon Carnell, age 75, of Battle Creek, MI, died Tuesday morning, September 28, 2010, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, Battle Creek, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born on July 19, 1935 in Battle Creek and was the son of Howard B. and Orbie G. (Smith) Carnell. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army, Tank Corps. Wayne retired from Kellogg's in 1993 as a production worker, after 27 years of faithful service; a member of its 25 Year Club and the Grain Miller's Union. On October 27, 1958, in Fort Wayne, IN, Wayne was united in marriage to the former, Arlene M. Miller. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Arlene; his daughter, Karen (Steve) Carnell-Stevenson of Otsego, MI; his son, Bruce (Brenda) Carnell of Sherwood, MI; by his five grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley and Joshua Carnell, Chelsea Stevenson and Aaron Noel; and several special nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Evelyn Blanchard, Frances Latshaw and Jean Beatty; and by two brothers, Jim and Bud Carnell. A private, family graveside service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wayne's honor may be made to the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, 166 E. Goodale Avenue, Battle Creek, MI, 49017.
