Todd Bolitho Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2010.
Todd Albert Bolitho Cadillac Todd Albert Bolitho, 53, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at his home in Cadillac after a courageous battle with cancer. Todd was born December 8, 1956 in Detroit, MI to Dr. and Mrs. Albert Bolitho. He attended public schools in Livonia, East Lansing, and Albion, where he developed a fascination for aerodynamics, electronics, computers, and music. He was very active in the Congregational and Methodist churches, and was selected to participate in Youth Assembly for five years. He continued to serve at various church camps and was a youth advisor for several years at First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, MI. He married his long time sweetheart, Kristi Lynne Lockwood, in 1980 at Albion College. Todd was a 1979 graduate of Albion College, and attended Michigan State University for Master's coursework. He was also a member of Mensa. Todd earned his private pilot's license in 1981, his commercial pilot's license and instructor's license in 1982, and became an aerobatics instructor in 1983. He also earned his charter fishing captain's license in 1995, as well as several master angler awards during his sport fishing career. Todd taught music for twenty years in the public schools, earning several recognitions and awards. Former music students continued to visit and send letters of appreciation until his death. He was perhaps best known for teaching proper vowel formation, as well as proper breathing techniques. His keen level of hearing and sense of pitch earned his vocal students many honors. Todd combined his knack for computers and his love of music into an electronic music studio, where he produced several local and national artists. He also produced and engineered the Broadway musical Tom Apart which is slated to debut next year. Todd is survived by his wife Kris of Cadillac, daughter Julie Bolitho-Lee (Kwok) of Oxford, England, parents Albert and Bonnie Bolitho of Battle Creek, brother, Dean (Mary) of Frederic, MI and sister Sally Wicks (Mike) of LaPorte, IN, as well as an uncle, nephews, cousins, and his mother-in-law Joan Lockwood of Eaton Rapids, MI A memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 145 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Rev. Valori Sherer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Oncology Scholarship Fund, 3970 US Highway 131 South, Suite C #184, Cadillac, MI 49601. Arrangements were made through Peterson Funeral Home, Cadillac.

To the Bolitho family, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I never met Todd, but from reading his obituary, he must have been a most remarkable man. May he rest in peace.

My sympathies to the whole Bolitho family. We enjoyed a brief but inspiring relationship with Todd and Kris while living in Harbor Springs. At that time he was trying to market a new fishing lure. He was such a creative person. So sorry for this loss.

Todd was one of my very first guitar teachers way back in the early 70's in Albion. He was a great teacher....I still play a lot of guitar to this day.
