He was my boss for10+ years. He was a dear friend and I was fortunate enough to become friends with his wife, Maxine, and his son, Kendall Wayne. He was a fair man and the parents thought the world of him. One story stands out in my mind: he had retired and I was working in the BISD Administration Building. He called to ask me if I could get a resume together for him for an organization he was applying for. Knowing him so well, I had saved his resume and was so happy to be of assistance. He was a true Christian man who was taken too soon; however I have wonderful memories of him, Maxine and Kendall Wayne that I will always treasure.

Mr. Moye is the reason we started the children at Sallie Curtis and not St. Anne's. We had paid our deposit and first semester for Katherine's first year. I happened to meet Mr. Moye and he encouraged me to come by for a tour of Curtis, talk to the teachers and so I did. The rest is Gavrelos-BISD history. My fondest memory of Mr. Moye would be of the students running from the play ground to hug him, he never seemed to mind how dusty and dirty they were. One day we had a chat about the importance of the students being at school every day. He told me this was teaching them to go to work everyday for the future. All 5 of my children have had many, many years of perfect attendance and all have great work ethics. After his retirement I saw him several times out in town and everytime I thanked him for what he taught me as a young mom. God Bless you Mr. Moye and may your memory be eternal.

I remember when Mr Moye and my mom (Margaret Stopher) worked on a curriculum committee for the school district. She had a great deal of respect for him, as she did for all truly intelligent people. If she were alive today, I am sure she would praise him still. But she is already on the other side, and I have every reason to believe she greeted him warmly when he arrived there.
May God grant his servant Elijah rest and peace, and may light-perpetual shine upon him.
