John Hagarty

John C. "Jack" Hagarty, 82, of Belleville, Ill., born Sept. 17, 1928, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, April 15, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Hagarty was a retired ironworker. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 392, East St. Louis, Ill. Jack was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., Shiloh Eagles Aerie 545, and VFW Belleville Post 1739. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad G. and Catherine, nee Karcher, Hagarty; four sisters, Lois Jefferies, Catherine Hagarty, Dorothy Demars and Jeanne Barbagallo; and two brothers, Robert Hagarty and James Hagarty.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dolores M., nee Champ, Hagarty, whom he married Sept 23, 1950; nine sons, Michael (Paula) Hagarty, Patrick (Linda) Hagarty, Gary (Pam) Hagarty, Jack (Anette) Hagarty, Timothy (Laura) Hagarty, Kenneth Hagarty, Donald Hagarty, Daniel (Cathy) Hagarty, and Kevin (Beth) Hagarty; 26 grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Hagarty, Kyle Hagarty, Curtis (Kim) Hagarty, Casey (Josh) Skelton, Corey Hagarty, Shawn Hagarty, Eric Hagarty, Heather Hagarty, Jennifer Hagarty, John Hagarty, Brenn Hagarty, Claire Hagarty, Caye Hagarty, Matthew Hagarty, Danielle (Jeremy) Shannon, Brendan Hagarty, Kenneth Hagarty Jr., Mary Hagarty, Kaitlyn Hagarty, Madison Hagarty, Melissa Hagarty, Tyler Hagarty, Brooke Hagarty, Hannah Hagarty, Garrett Hagarty, and Bridget Hagarty; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Caleb, and Addison Hagarty, Lena Skelton, Alec Barbeau, and Lucas Shannon; two sisters, Germaine (Ralph) Edwards of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Helena Hagarty of Virginia; a brother, William (Jackie) Hagarty of Belleville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Catholic Church or in the form of Masses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Father Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Hagarty family. I just found out about Jack's passing today. From the old softball days to seeing him regularly at the Shiloh Eagles,Jack was always friendly and always a hoot. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
