Hedy Hock

Hedy M. Hock, 63, of Pocahontas, Ill., born Jan. 18, 1948, in Highland, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at her residence.

Mrs. Hock was born in Highland and grew up there. She graduated Highland High School in 1966. After her marriage she worked at Chastain's Nursing Home, St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, Ill., and Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville, Ill. She retired last fall from Basler Electric after 38 years. She worked as an assembler in the Systems Dept. She was a member of AFL-CWA Local 840. Hedy enjoyed crocheting, collecting elephants and hummingbirds. She was a wonderful mother.

Hedy was preceded in death by her parents, William O. and Eileen V., nee Zbinden, McCaw Sr.; brother, William O. "Bill" McCaw Jr.; sister-in-law, Jane Hock; brother-in-law, Jay Billy Sackett; and sister-in-law, Velma Mae Frey.

Surviving are her husband, Leroy G. Hock Jr., of Pocahontas, Ill., whom she married on Feb. 27, 1965; sons, Tommy L. Hock of Pocahontas, Ill., and Steven J. Hock (special friend, Dawn Allen) of Patoka, Ill.; brother, James C. (Evelyn "Marie") McCaw of Highland, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Nancy A. McCaw of Highland, Ill., Evelyn M. "Sue" (Gary) File of Pocahontas, Ill., Betty L. Miller of Pierron, Ill., and Connie L. Manion of Highland, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Anthony M. "Tony" Frey of Highland, Ill., Donald H. "Butch" (Lynn) Hock of Sherman, Texas, Allan R. Hock of Irvington, Ala., Jonnie L. (Patricia) Hock of Breese, Ill., and Robert J. Hock of Carbondale, Ill.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Bond County Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.spengel-boulanger.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.,

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Leonard E. Pye officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Hedy was a wonderful person and I'm sure you will all miss her terribly. She is surely in heaven.
