Dee Krumeich
Dee Louis Krumeich, 81, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Nov. 3, 1927, in Glen Carbon, Ill., the town he loved all his life, died on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Maryville Manor in Maryville, Ill.
Dee was a lifelong member of New Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon, Ill., beginning on the Cradle Roll. He treasured his days as a Boy Scout and the happy hours spent in the woods with friends. He was a graduate of Glen Carbon Grade School, Edwardsville High School, where he was a member of the baseball and football teams, and of Brown's Business School in St. Louis, Mo. Dee remained a faithful supporter of Edwardsville athletics throughout his life.
In 1945, at age 17, Dee enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the pacific aboard the destroyers USS Bronson and USS Ault and in Japan. He was a member of American Legion Post 435 in Glen Carbon, Ill. In 1984 he retired from Amoco Oil, Accounting Division, after 34 years of service.
Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ruth, nee Witte, Krumeich; brother-in-law, Fred Simon; and nephew, Brent Simon.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, nee Parish, Krumeich of Glen Carbon, Ill., whom he married Feb. 25, 1951, in Granite City, Ill.; sons Jeffrey D. Krumeich of Burnsville, Minn., and Rev. Jay C. (Rev. Holly) Krumeich of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Shane (Mai) Krumeich of Tokyo, Japan; KC (Kelsey) Krumeich of Loveland, Ohio, Morgan Krumeich of Alexandria, Va., and Kady Krumeich of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-granddaughter, Julia of Tokyo; sister, Jean Claire Simon of Collinsville, Ill.; niece, Stacy (Chris) Luber of Collinsville, Ill.; nephew, Dane Simon of Maryville, Ill.; grandniece and grandnephew, Courtney Luber and Jordan Luber.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, New Bethel United Methodist Church in Glen Carbon, Ill., or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at New Bethel Church in Glen Carbon, Ill., with the Rev. Jay Krumeich officiating. Interment in Glen Carbon Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
