Etta Hayes Obituary
Etta Delores Hayes, 88, passed away March 16, 2014.
Mrs. Hayes was the dear mother of Dr. Joseph Hayes, Phyllis Strauther and Yolanda Mayes; mother-in-law of Princess Hayes, Lee Strauther and Roger Mayes; loving grandmother of Monica Sykes, Candace Dunlap, Dr. Lisa Strauther, Marcus Strauther, Helayne Garner, Frazier Garner III, Nicholas Garner, Kelli Garner, Ryan Bell and Royce Bell; also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated in the name of Etta Hayes to the Unity Lutheran Church.
Visitation: Visitation and last viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Unity Lutheran Church, 42nd St. and Caseyville Ave., East St. Louis, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral (closed casket) will be held at noon Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the church, followed by burial service in Sunset Gardens of Memory, Millstadt, Ill.

It just does not seem real. Mrs. Hayes has always been there...a loving, smiling, caring, graceful, forgiving, talented, sharing Spirit. She has been a true gift from God to us, an example, a sample of God's definition of devoted and cherished Mother; faithful and adored Wife and talented and generous Child of God. I thank God for her having been a dear presence in the life of the Ford Family and the old St John's Lutheran Church on Gaty Avenue.
My prayer is that God will bless her spirit to now be set free to be a very real guiding spiritual presence to each and every one who has loved her and been loved in return by her. To Phyllis, Joe and Lon, we offer our sincerest of condolences and pray God's special peace and grace be yours as you remember the life and legacy of this very special lady.
