Esther C. Hanson

Esther Caroline Hanson (Age 96), passed away on April 14, 2011. Esther was born to Martin and Ellen (Olson) Nelson on February 2nd, 1915 in Canton, SD. Esther was one of nine siblings. It was in Canton she met and married Harold Hanson on February 5, 1938. They moved to Bellingham in the early 40's where they enjoyed raising their children Steven, Katie and Teri. Esther enjoyed gardening, crosswords, and RVing with her husband Harold. She was also very fond of animals. She imparted strong family values, was caring and had a terrific sense of humor. Esther instilled many attributes to her family and will be most remembered for teaching them the joy of laughing and hard work. She will always be remembered for her homemade cookies and bread. Esther is survived by her two children; son, Steve (Susan) Hanson; and daughter, Teri S. Hanson all of Bellingham; grandchildren, Corbett Hanson of Bellingham and Cimberlee Hanson of Kent, Elise Bacon of Ferndale and Colin Bacon who is currently stationed in Greece serving in the US Airforce. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1986, all eight of her siblings (five brothers and three sisters), her daughter Katie (2006) and infant son Freddie (1944). Special thanks to the staff at North Cascade Health and Rehab for their loving and attentive care they showed to our mother. A memorial service will be held for Esther at Jerns Funeral Chapel, 800 E Sunset Drive in Bellingham on Friday, April 22nd at 1:00 P.M.
