Mary "Emma" Lind-Speidel

Mary "Emma" (Schoening) Lind-Speidel, 88, of Lynnwood,WA passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, July 2, 2013 from heart and lung disease. Born a coalminers daughter on August 27, 1924 in Twila, KY, Mary was the middle of 7 children born to August Gustav and Susan Katherine (Brock) Schoening. In 1927 her family moved and settled on a farm on Sweet Road in Blaine, WA. "Emma" as she was known during those days, graduated from Blaine High in 1943. Upon graduation she moved to the city life of Seattle where she married Reuben J. Lind of 44 years until his death in 1991. They raised three children, James, Richard and Diana (Lind) Lentz. Mary joined her life together with Richard Speidel in 1995 and together they also, as she did with Reuben, travel, golf,enjoy their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoying life always with spunk, spark, smiles and a song in her head. Always young at heart, Mary was an inspiration to all. Even though her later years were filled with much physical pain, she knew how to live and enjoy life fully with grace and joy and believed that age should not make one think or act old. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Reuben, her two sons, James and Richard, three sisters and three brothers. She is survived and loved by her husband, daughter, three granddaughters, 2 greatgrandchildren, brother, and many extended family and step family.
