Delbert Sollinger Obituary

Delbert Ray Sollinger age 82, of Ferndale, passed away in Bellingham, Sunday, February 13, 2011. Born July 29, 1928 in Sumas, Washington. He attended Nooksack Valley High School and served in U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his tour of duty he met his true love Gertrude "Trudy" Squirres, and were married December of 1955 and they made their home in Tacoma, Washington were Del worked for the Franklin Pierce School District as School Bus Driver for 35 years, retiring in Ferndale. Before Trudy's death in 2008 they loved traveling, camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Del was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Ida (Hinton) Sollinger, brothers, Joe, Jim and Mick and his sister Edna Ryder. He is survived by his sisters Betty Taft, Phyllys Stevens and Betty Stanley, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Uncle Del always had a warm smile and big heart. He was a kind, loving man who adored my aunt Gertrude and I always admired him for that. He had big warm hugs, an understanding heart and a gentle soul. You will be greatly missed Uncle Del, and warmly remembered.
