Kenneth Flint Obituary

Kenneth A. Flint Kenneth A. Flint passed away peacefully at home on January 17,2011 in Blaine at the age of 86. He was born on July 25, 1924 in Bellingham to Burton and Wilma Flint. He grew up in the Custer area and graduated from Blaine High School. During World War II he proudly served in the United States Navy. After the war he attended Western Washington College on the GI Bill and graduated with a double degree in Economics and Education. Ken worked many jobs after college, but the two he was most proud of were his jobs as an elementary school teacher and working for the United States Immigration Department. He began his teaching career in Randle, WA and ended it teaching for the Blaine School District. During the summers he worked on the border for Customs and Immigration. Then in 1969, he began working full-time for the Immigration Department in Chicago and at the Vancouver International Airport in B.C. until he retired in 1989. During his retirement years he volunteered for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a driver and donated over 9 gallons of blood to the Puget Sound Blood Bank. Ken will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Hilda and his five children: Sue Flint of Federal Way, Bruce (Kari) of Hayden, ID, Brad (Nancy) of Blaine, Scott of Renton, and Sharon Flint. His two granddaughters Kayla of Hayden, ID and Emily of Blaine also survive him. His parents, Burton and Wilma Flint and his brother, Dale Flint predeceased him. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations can be made to Blaine Senior Center, Puget Sound Blood Bank or the Department of Veteran Affairs. Graveside services will be at Haynie Cemetery at 2:00 on January 21, 2011. A reception will be immediately following at the Blaine Senior Center. So sorry for your loss as he will be missed by me as well. My dad Alton E Flint was his uncle. For a time we lived right across the road from each other in Uncle Lohman's house in Blaine. I only remember Susan and that was along time ago.
Sincerely, Alison M Flint-Thams
