Leslie Barnes Obituary

Leslie A. Barnes Leslie A. Barnes, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in Bellingham. He was born November 10, 1915 in Sampsonton, Alberta, Canada to Thomas and Alice (Wyatt) Barnes. He served for 7-years in the U.S. Army Air Corps earning the Bronze Star Award in the China Burma India Theater of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. After his military service, Leslie worked for many years in the operations department of the George Pacific Pulp Mill in Bellingham. He enjoyed gardening, and made frequent visits to Yuma, AZ. Leslie was preceded in death by his wife Evie and 2 brothers Alfred and Jack Barnes. He is survived by his stepdaughters Joyce (Dennis) King of Bellingham and Lois (Bob) Baxter of University Place, WA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister Alice Swan and his long time companion Lavada Rodrigue. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice foundation at 800 E. Leslie lived a long life. "the righteous one will posses the earth and he will reside in it forever". May Leslie continue to rest peacefully until she is resurrected .
