Lori White Obituary

Lori L. White, age 56, of Bellingham, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21st, 2011. Lori was born July 7th, 1954 in Bellingham to Sharky and Betty Leavitt. She grew up in the Deming area and created many special memories on Church Mountain, which she lovingly shared with her family. In 1972 Lori graduated from Mount Baker High School and from there went on to create a life in Bellingham. On December 1st, 1982 Lori vowed to spend the rest of her life with her best friend Jim White. Their relationship was one built of love, trust and respect. Lori enjoyed working with her dad at his AAA Vacuum business. Over the years she had numerous jobs, but her love of children led her to her most recent, as a school bus driver for the Bellingham School District. Lori's love of life, family and community was shown in all she did. She was a person of energy; one who made things happen. Family and friends were her life. She was a true friend to everyone she came in contact with, whether it was a brief encounter in the grocery store or a lifelong friend from grade school. Lori was a volunteer firefighter, Cub Scout leader and a member of Christ the King among many other things. She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, making beautiful wedding cakes and playing softball and games with family and friends. Patriotism is defined as love and devotion to ones country, which Lori showed every chance she had. Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Sharky and survived by her husband Jim, their beloved children and their families; Son Adam White and wife Michelle and their children Justice 13, Gavin 11, Tyler 7 and Lylli 4; Son Jacob White; Son Gary White and wife Candace and their children Katelynn 14, William 13, Westyn 10, Aiden 3 and Isaac 2; Daughter Sheri White and Ron James and their children Veronica 19 and Dakota 16. Lori is also survived by her siblings; sister Connie Gates and husband Ken, sister Betsy Zender and husband Dean, brother Rocky Leavitt and wife Linda and many nieces and nephews. Please join us in celebrating Lori's life at 10am Monday morning January 31st at Christ the King Community Church 4173 Meridian Street in Bellingham. I can't believe Lori is gone. She was a childhood friend and her dad and mine were good friends. She was an awesome person, always so happy and smiling. I was so glad we reconnected on Facebook not too long ago. She is surely in Heaven hugging her parents and mine!

Jim and Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Lori was such a special person to our family. I always enjoyed seeing her smiling face! She always greeted me with big hug. My boys got to spend some time with her at Beachwood and Birchbay painting rocks and making memories. I am very gretful for having her in my life. The service today was the largest attended service I have ever been to. UNBELEIVABLE! She touched so many people during her time with us. My heart and thoughts are with you and your family.

Adam & Family, I am sorry to read about your mom's passing. I remember one of your birthdays when we went out to birch bay and swam at the resort pools and Niki and I were the only girls there with all you boys, your mom was so nice. Your family will be in my prayers.

Lori was a wonderful lady: always with a smile and a positive outlook on life. She knew how to brighten a day. I was always happy to see her behind the steering wheel of our team bus. It was always a sign of good luck if she was the one who drove us to our destination. She will be sorely missed.

Jim and family, Lori was my son's bus driver from Carl Cozier a couple of years ago. She was one of the kindest people I have ever met. I always enjoyed chatting with her. It was my son's first bus experience and she made every bus ride a happy experience. Recently, she was asked to drive him home and I got to see her for a few minutes. I am very sorry for your loss, she was a very wonderful person. I feel lucky to have known her. With love, Cathie Bertola (David's mom)

We have struggled with the right words to convey myour sorrow. Every phrase that comes to mind seems so trite. How do you adequately express how much you love someone? How much you are going to miss them? How the world was a better place with them in it? There really are no words. All we can say is that Lori, you were a ray of sunshine in everyone's lives that you touched and you will be missed greatly.

We love you,

Terry and Tammy Leavitt

To Lori's family and friends: I am so very sorry for your loss. Lori was my son's bus driver for several years and always looked out for him. I happily ran into her at a gathering at my cousin's house one day where I had the chance to get to know her better. She was such a lovely person! May you find peace and comfort in your memories.
