Dominick Putignano Obituary

Mr. Dominick A. Putignano, 71, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born in Gioia del Colle, Italy, on May 31, 1949, the son of the late Emanuel and Nunziata Albanese Putignano, he and his family immigrated to America in 1959. Dominick graduated from James Monroe High School in Bronx, NY.

Dominick was a United States Army veteran, where he proudly served his country from 1968 through 1970. After his service, he was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Alongside his wife, he was the hardworking and dedicated owner and operator of Flo's Diner in Pittsfield, MA. Dominick loved all his customers (many of whom became good friends), and continuously aimed to please them. He always greeted them with that big, friendly smile of his, and his positive energy was always felt by all.

Dominick enjoyed dining out, movies, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a dedicated family man, which showed in everything he did. He looked forward to vacationing in Lake George at the end of every summer. In 2018, he went back to visit Italy after 35 years. While there, not only was he able to visit his birthplace, but also reconnect with his family, which was very special to him.

Summertime was Dominick's favorite. You could always catch him soaking up the sun's rays with a cold drink, doing small outdoor activities, and working in his garage. Dominick loved to engage in conversations, especially about history and politics. Once you started a conversation with him, whether you knew him well, or you just met him, you were sure to be drawn in by his passion for sharing his thoughts and keeping people informed!

Besides his beloved wife of 37 years, Jill Ozner, whom he married on June 4, 1983, Dominick is survived by his children, Daniel Putignano, Marisa Putignano (Shane), and Nancy Putignano. He leaves behind his siblings, Anthony (Camille), and sister, Maria (Silvio), as well as his dear grandchildren, Isaiah, Sadie and Madeline, many nieces and nephews, and friends too numerous to count.

Dominick and his warm, inviting personality will be sorely missed by all of those who were blessed to have known him. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, and the best grandpa! Rest in peace to a beautiful soul.

Dominick was my best friend from Ellis Ave. Everything I know about women, I learned from him. He spent many nights watching television in my families living room. He was the closest think I had to a big brother.

Dear Jill, Nancy and family,
I was just going through the “ In Memorium” edition of the Berkshire Eagle and saw Dominick’s picture. I honestly don’t remember if I saw his obituary or not back in December because we were going through some medical issues as well at that time. I am so very sorry for your loss and I hope you have found some peace from all the prayers that were sent your way. Sending hugs and more prayers for peace and comfort.
Sincerely,
BeckyKnox

Jill and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of Dominick's passing. It's been a while since I visited at Flo's and was totally unaware. The memories of early morning coffee at Jill's Country Kitchen in Lee make me smile, remembering Dominick's good nature his ability to spark lively conversations with us.

He will be missed.
