Madlyn Lederer

1926 - 2014 LEE Madlyn "Midge" Lederer, 88, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Lee, died September 23, 2014 in Lakeland. She was the daughter of Mackool and Margaret Mitchell, born on February 28, 1926. Midge was a native of Lee where she met her husband, Don, and was employed as an Executive Secretary for General Electric for almost 30 years. In 1988 she and her husband retired to Lakeland and settled at Sandpiper Golf and Country Club. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the choir. She was an avid golfer and bridge player, and a member of the Sandpiper's Women's Golf Association. Bridge was her passion and she played whenever she had a chance. She was also a member of the Meet and Greet Club of Greater Island. Midge's family and friends thank the Granny Nannies caregivers who served Midge with faithfulness and devotion. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Don, and her daughter, Diane. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Lederer, III (Betty), her sister, Evelyn Lesniak, and her brother, George Mitchell (Barbara), as well as four granddaughters, one grandson, and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakeland Fla. on Saturday October 11, 2014 FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, next to her husband Don, in her parents plot. There are no visiting hours. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland, FL 33809 or to St, Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101, or Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823.
