Norman LaPointe Obituary

PITTSFIELD -- Norman Eugene "Norm" LaPointe, 94, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Sunday at Palm Terrace Nursing Home in St. Petersburg.

Born in Pittsfield on June 18, 1912, son of Jesse LaPointe and Eva Phaneuf LaPointe, he graduated from St. Joseph's School in Pittsfield in 1930.

He received training at the University of Wisconsin while a serviceman with the Navy and was a radio operator during World War II.

Mr. LaPointe was in retail management with the Textile Store, which later became Kay's. He later worked with First Agricultural Bank in Pittsfield as cash controller for 12 years before retiring in 1989 and moving to Florida.

While in Pittsfield, he was active with the Knights of Columbus. He attended St. Raphael's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. In Florida, he was a volunteer at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg for 13 years, and with the St. Petersburg Police Department in the records department for six years. He attended The Neighborly Care Dining program.

He and the former Marjorie Blair were married in Pittsfield. She died in 1988.

Mr. LaPointe leaves two daughters, Kathryn LaPointe of St. Petersburg and Laurie L. Ellis of Houston; two sons, Richard LaPointe and Thomas LaPointe; and nine grandchildren.
