Timothy Agar Obituary

Timothy S. Agar

1960 2012 FOLSOM, CA Timothy Scott Agar (August 23, 1960-December 19, 2012), firstborn child of Rodney and Julianne Agar of Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully in Folsom, surrounded by loved ones and listening to his favorite music, '70s classics and Allman Brothers ballads.

Born in New York, NY, Tim grew up in Pittsburgh. He received his B.A. in English from Union College and graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a Master's degree in Journalism. Tim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, fishing, sailing, canoeing, hiking and dirt bike riding. He played soccer competitively from a young age through high school and college and into his 30s. He spent his summers growing up in the Berkshires where he developed and nurtured a love for nature that continued throughout his life. Tim became an accomplished business man, excelling in both of his chosen fields of journalism and sales.

He was a devoted father to his three children, Robbie, Anna and Katie, instilling in them his unique zest for life, sense of humor and love of the outdoors. There was nothing more important to him than his children, of whom he was fiercely protective and exceedingly proud.

He was predeceased by his younger brother, Robert; grandparents Elinore and Charles Agar of Gt. Barrington, and Dorothy and Jules Weibel.

Tim will always be remembered for his generous spirit, his devotion to his family and his friends and his desire to live life to the fullest.

In addition to his parents and children, Tim leaves his younger sister, Julie Connors (Michael); brother Charles Agar (Autumn); nephews Patrick and Johnny; nieces Katie and Frances; aunts Eunice Agar, Linda Agar-Hendrix and Pamela Curto (Vincent); uncles Stephen (Hannah) and Paul (Michelle), and many cousins. He loved them all dearly.

Tim's absence in the lives of all he touched will be felt deeply and eternally. Everyone who knew him has a great "Tim story" that will be recounted for years to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a scholarship fund for the children are gratefully accepted. Please make checks payable to Robert K. Agar, 118 Casselman Street, Folsom, CA 95630.

I worked with Tim for many years and went on many work trips with him. We shared a lot of stories and laughs in that time and grew to become friends. Not a single time did I see him did he fail to mention his children - what they were doing and where they were headed in life. He was a very proud parent and one of the best guys I've ever known. My condolences to the Agar family in this trying time - Tim will be missed by many.

It was so great to see Tim with the Agars at the MLSA 40th celebration. He was so proud of his family and loved living his life out west. As I do with Rob, I will always remember Tim's huge smile, his laughter and twinkling eyes. Please know our hearts and prayers are with the Agars thorugh this difficult time.
