Mrs. Ellis and family,
I never met any of you but want you to know that I thought Mr. Ellis was a fine man. In 1986, I was a student at the University of Alabama. Mr. Ellis interviewed me and gave me a part time job with US Tobacco Company when I really needed it. My dad had just been retired on disability and I didn't know how I was going to pay for college. I worked several months and enjoyed my meetings with Mr. Ellis. He was a kind and gracious man. I saw him several years later at a restauarnt in Birmingham, and he remembered me and asked about my father. I am sorry for your loss.

Kay, I am so sorry to hear about Tick. I will always remember that when we were seated in alphabetical order at WEHS I was just before Tick. Am so glad y'all were able to get to the class get-together 2 years ago so that I could again visit with him and get to know you. You and your family are in my prayers.

Almost 70 years ago, Tick, his cousins Jimmy and Robert Ellis, Norman Webber and I took swimming lessons together at the Downtown Y. Weall wound up and WEHS. All five of us were in Lambda Chi Alpha at The University of Alabama. My childreattended VHHS with Tick's boys. Most recently, I was able to procure "souvenir bricks" for the Ellis family when our beloved WEHS alma mater was demolished. I'm sure Jim will agree Tick, Roberet and Norm are fixing us a fine place to swim!
