Bill was the reason I joined MACESS, where we all learned so much from his vision, passion, and excellence. Now, up in Nashville, I am on the advisory board for the engineering department that bears his name--his generosity here in the Vanderbilt community is legendary. He reached so many of us in so many ways, and we all are better from knowing him and working with him.

Dear Carolyn:
I was making a sales call to Birmingham and the gentlemam I was speaking with, Al Simmons, was aware of Bill's passing. I was shocked, especially after just receiving the beautiful Christmas card. Mary and I so enjoyed our brief visit in Nashville this fall. I am so glad we made the effort to meet.
My heart goes out to you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers. I was looking forward to knowing you both better.
Sincerely,
Jim Mahan

I was so sorry that I was unable to attend Bill's service. We had fun in class at Ramsey, and fun talking. What a legacy he leaves. This time of year is especially hard, but God needed his help. Mike will certainly be surprised to see him, and I'm sure they will have lots to talk about

My Mother was Virginia Braswell & was the 2nd employee at Brookwood Hospital. As the hospital grew so did her friendships that she cherished until her death in 2008. One of those friendships was that of Bill Feathergill. She always said that he was a man that was not only large in stature but he was larger than life on the inside. She always took his thoughts and advice to heart. Mother know he was not only a very educated man but a man of truth and good advice. Mother was so lucky to have the friends she meet at Brookwood. But the friendship continued some years later when Bill went to Medical Center East. This was "the family hospital." She got to re-new her friendship with Bill. He always meet her with a HUGE smile and a hug. Thank you Bill for being my Mother's friend over the years. I know that she was at the Gates of Heaven to welcome you with her huge smile and warm heart. May you rest in peace. Cary Sue Braswell Calhoun

Bill loved politics. I enjoyed many an hour discussing it with him. Not always, but more often than not, the conversation would end with Bill saying something like, "How can I help?" Bill was perhaps the most generous man I have ever known. If he thought the cause was right he was part of the cause.
