I was just told Mr . Becker passed away, I too was one of his employees at the good old 5pts West Parisian, as Inwas very young, 17 years old, he taught me at a early age that the Customer Was Always Right!!! To this day, I carry that same feeling with me in all retail stores, as you do not see the respect for customers anyore like Mr. Becker instilled in his store. As I am pushing 60, in the earlier days, if I did not do something my husband asked me to do, he would say, " I'm calling Mr. Becker on you, boy, would I straighten up! He was a good man, and my condolences go out to his family .

May God comfort your family! Mr. Becker was my first boss after I graduated high school in 1975. He was truly an inspiration! This photo was taken by my fiance, Donnie, at a surprise wedding shower given by my coworkers at the 5 Points West store in 1978. He will be greatly missed!

Joan, I extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Jackie leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. Those of us at Bessemer High School will remember Jackie as a kind and thoughtful gentleman who always had the hint of a little smile on his face. Mr. Becker was my first boss after graduating with a Fashion Merchandising degree. How lucky I was to start my retail career with him! He loved his store, his customers and his people. We in turn adored him. He was the best retailer I ever met. He had a good balance of merchandise knowledge, sales knowledge, and people skills. I learned so much from him including “stack it high and watch it fly”. I learned to always value your people because they in turn will value their customers. I learned that you can work hard and have fun and so much more. Because of him, I built a strong foundation that carried me through a long career in retail. I will miss him, and I will always carry a piece of him with me – he is the one who instilled in me professionalism and passion for the wonderful world of retail. God bless him and comfort his family in their loss.

I remember Jackie at Pititz in Bessemer. I'll always remember how nice he was to the customers. He was a hands-on manager...waited on customers as if he were an employee.

What a guy! Jack Becker was an inspiration to me in my career at Parisian - some of my fondest memories are his voice messages that he left me about what he needed in Kids! His passion for his work, his people skills and his enthusiasm were all attributes that set him apart! I will miss him! God bless Mr Becker.

Mr. Becker was a true merchant, who believed in customer service and had a " can do" attitude. His mere presence exhumed an energetic attitude. He spoke proudly and often of his family and was a Gentleman. It was a privilage to have worked with and to have known " Mr. Becker".
