David Covington McLeod

April 16, 1947 - December 16, 2014 David Covington McLeod died on December 16, 2014. He was born in Birmingham on April 16, 1947 to the late Lera Covington McLeod and the late Ronald O'Brien McLeod. David graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1965 after attending Kentucky Military Institute for two years. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1970 where he was an enthusiastic member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and also served his country in the Air National Guard. For forty years David was the heart and soul of Birmingham Wholesale Furniture Company. He loved and appreciated all his customers and fellow workers. He was a proud member of Nick's Kids, The University of Alabama President's Cabinet, and The University of Alabama College of Commerce's Never Should Have Made It Club. Next to his family and friends, David loved Alabama Sports, golf at Willow Point Country Club, Lake Martin and his beloved dog, the late Mr. Bobo. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Berry McLeod, daughter, Kelley McLeod Tynes, her husband William, stepdaughters, Taylor Storm Baird and her husband Trey, and Evie Storm DePiano and her husband Chris. David was blessed with seven grandchildren who adored him, Amelia, David and Lila Tynes, Evelyn and Robert Baird, and Sarah Neal and Adam DePiano. David is also survived by his brother Tommy McLeod and his wife Anne, and his sister Janice McLeod Fuqua and her husband Danny, as well as his niece and nephews, David and Alistair McLeod and Ann and Scott Fuqua. He had the gift of friendship which is the greatest kind of love. The funeral will be held at The Cathedral Church of the Advent on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nick's Kids Fund, P.O.
