HEWLETT, Roger Mott Passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in the company of his beloved wife of over 60 years, Mimi. Roger was born in New York in 1927 and grew up in Freeport, Long Island, a descendant of many generations of Hewletts on Long Island. He graduated from the Cambridge School of Weston and later Harvard University (Class of 1951) on the G.I. Bill after serving in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army towards the end of WW II. Once in the Boston region, he never left the area. He was a long term member of both the Harvard Club and the Wellesley Country Club. He is survived by his wife Mimi, daughter Kate, son Charles, daughter-in-law Nancy, and his two grandchildren Rinnie and Alexander. Roger was at Danforth Associates as a financial manager his entire career. With the ticker tape running on the TV most days, Roger remained an active investor in the stock market to the very end. Roger was witty and one of the most open-minded and tolerant people on the planet. He loved music, particularly opera, and was an avid collector with a passion for Japanese netsukes, portraits, and ceramics. His garden was legendary in his home town of Dover, Massachusetts. His prized Mandarin yellow tomatoes live on in his son's garden in Washington, D.C., and there are epic Spider Plant and Christmas Cactus offspring thriving in his daughter's home in Tenants Harbor, Maine. A gentle giant, once standing 6'4", his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends who had the privilege of knowing him. At the request of the family a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
