Janice was a true professional who helped me and countless art historians over the years with a quiet grace and warmth. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Dear Mark,
The sad news about losing my very dear friend and colleague, Janice, broke my heart. Janice was kind, thoughtful, and professional in every way. Last time I saw her, some time ago, I told her that I will never, never forget her fairness and kindness to me. She was ethical and honorable. I know that she is in Heaven looking after you, Nathanael and Andrew.
May prayers are with you and God bless you all.

Such sad news. I knew Jan through ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/NE for many years. I last spoke to her a year or so ago when I encountered her by chance outside the BPL. She was always admired for her professionalism, and loved for her warmth. I know I will never forget her. My condolences to Mark and her two sons.

I am so sorry to hear this! I did a practicum in Fine Arts at the BPL for my Art Documentation class at Simmons, and Jan was always very kind and supportive. Sending all of my sympathy.
Sincerely,

I have spent many hours engaged in research in Fine Arts at the Boston Public Library, and I valued Jan very much. She was both warm and extremely capable. What a loss.

Dear Mark,
I just heard about Janice. I am so so very sorry for your loss. The boys must be very sad and I can only imagine how difficult all of this must be for all of you. I remember that fun time we had at your house for dinner and it was so nice to have known Janice.

Think of you,

we were so sorry to hear about the passing of your wife Janice. Our daughter Ella is a good school friend of Andrew. On the number of times we met Janice we found her such a warm, friendly and compassionate person. Let us know if we can help in anyway.

Dear Mark, Nathanael and Andrew,

I am deeply sadened by the loss of Janice, I will always remember her as an individual that made me feel very welcomed to the Brookline community, she is indeed a woman of strength and courage. Blake and Bryce will continue to share in laughter and sports with the boys, she always thanked us for "teaching them how to play".

Mark, I was shocked to hear of Janice's passing. She was my best friend in middle and high school, and one of the smartest. She had a way of lighting up a room with her bright eyes and warm smile. You and your family are in our prayers.

All of us at Cram and Ferguson were saddened to hear of Janice passing. She was a good friend to the firm and many of its members especially to me. During the years I have done extensive research in the Cram collection and worked closely with Janice to add to and administer it together. She was always good humored, rational and thoughtful, she will be missed.

Mark, I am so very sad to hear that Janice has passed away. My son Christopher is a friend of Andrew, and whenever I saw Janice at school, I was always struck at how much of a wonderful and devoted mother she was.
My prayers go to you and the boys. If at any time now or in the future you feel that Andrew would be happy to come to our home for a playdate, a sleepover or anything at all, it would be our great pleasure to have him.
Our hearts go out to your family.

I worked with Jan for 11 years in the Fine Arts Department at Boston Public Library. She was consummate professional and a great judge of character -- not to mention she was fun to work with too.. I owe her a lot both personally and professional.

I grieve for her husband Mark and her two sons, Nathanael and Andrew.

Janice was an extremely lovely person. Completely dedicated to her wonderful boys Nathanael and Andrew. I got to know Janice through our boys, Nathanael is a friend of my son Thomas. She was sharp, witty, compassionate and "spot on" about what little boys are like! As parents, we related to the day to day joys and challenges of raising them. I am heart-broken to hear of her passing and will miss her presence in our community. Our hearts go out to Mark and the boys.

We were all so sorry to hear about Janice. I knew Janice as the mum of Nathaneal, Roly's friend at Heath school. I met her a few times at the school and at the children's birthday parties. We also sometimes communicated by email about the boys. Janice seemed always such a compassionate mother, something which really struck me in the way she talked about the boys. She understood their feelings and was very protective of them. She seemed to really enjoy their childhood and they obviously brought her great joy. I wish we were still in Brookline to support a no doubt bereft family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mark, Nathaneal and Andrew.
