Sorry to hear of Mrs. Paradis' passing. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to her family. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope. And, that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. In the days to come may you find comfort in that hope.

I am so sad to learn of Judi's passing. We became friends when she took my son Marc under her wing when she was the librarian at Stratton School in Arlington. My son had been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome on the autistic spectrum. Arlington had initiated a wonderful specialized ten student kindergarten at Stratton which was a perfect fit for our brilliant little guy. He was a December child and young for kindergarten so we kept him in the program for two years.
Which brings us back to Judi. We quickly learned that Judi defined the role of Librarian primarily as a teacher. She was one of the first to use her teacher super powers to really see Marc, to really appreciate him, and to reach him. Marc was a lover of books and reading and had actually been reading on his own since he was 18 months old. He also by kindergarten had amazing command of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Judi tapped into his love and words and really engaged with him. Marc was intrigued that Judi always displayed the Word of the Week on a piece of paper on the glass wall of her office for all to see - always an unusual or fun word that then became something for her to use to talk to the students visiting the library. Judi noticed Marc's interest and so she decided from then on that it was Marc's job to pick the word each week. He loved it! And we loved her for doing this for Marc. I know that her work with Marc along with Stratton's kindergarten helped him to thrive at Brackett Elementary School in the years that followed.
Marc is 22 now and I am welling up now as I remember this. I know that she surely performed this kind of magic with lots of her students her library over her long career. What a wonderful teacher and person she was! And I felt so lucky to know her and stay in contact with her all the years since.

Judi is a shining light. Her light will continue to shine forth through her children, her husband, and the many communities/families intertwined throughout her life. Judi will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Judi was full of love and hope. The memories she has left with each of us will last forever.
Godspeed Judi. Rest easy now.
I miss you.

Dear family members,
I am so sorry for your loss of a most amazing human being. I first met Judi many years ago when we were clerical workers at Boston University and both members in our union, District 65, UAW. I met up with her again decades later when I became an area director in MSLA (the year Judi became President of MSLA). Judi's leadership in MSLA provided me with confidence in the direction of the organization. Her kindness, sense of humor, intelligence in everything she did was awe-inspiring. I invited her to come to my first western MA MSLA meeting for members out here in Amherst. She accepted! The night we held the meeting, a very dense fog settled upon the valley. Despite this, Judi drove through the fog and came to the meeting to talk to our members and then drove back in the fog to Arlington. I'll never forget her generosity and dedication to our members. Judi's presence in a room always guaranteed thoughtful discussion, visionary ideas, and fun times. I mentioned in post to friends, that I was going to write what a big loss and emptiness her passing leaves, but then I realized she did not leave loss and emptiness, she inspired each and everyone of us and leaves this world so much fuller and better. I will miss her very, very much. My sympathies to you all. Leslie

I never had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Paradis, but my son volunteered at the Plympton school library during his 4 years at Brandeis. He adored her! I am certain it was her letter of recommendation that helped Matt get into every grad school he applied to. I am so sorry for this enormous loss to your family and to the community.

The loss of Judi Paradis is a human tragedy. She was a force of nature who gave so willingly of her time and energy whenever or wherever help was needed. She fought for all the great causes that included social justice and equality, marched for women's rights and against our present administration that is opposed to all she valued. Her great heart reached as far as war-torn El Salvador.
As the eldest of the eight Paradis children, Judy was the glue that held the family together. She was a great role model for her younger siblings, as she was for her own two children. They, now wonderful adults, are her greatest legacy.
As a beacon of light, she inspired all who loved and respected her to be more, do more and try to make a difference.
