JANET ALBRECHT Obituary

ALBRECHT, Janet Austen Of Wellesley, February 2, 2018. Daughter of the late Richard W. and Hope (Hall) Albrecht. Beloved sister of Nancy T. August and her husband Donald of Manchester by the Sea. Aunt of Nathaniel and his wife Kyuhey August of New York City. Great Aunt of Edward, Dorothea and Benjamin August. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 9, 1943, she spent her childhood in Natick and Weston, MA. She graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Zoology in 1965, received a Master's Degree in Public Health from Yale University in 1969, and a MBA from Boston University in 1978. Ms. Albrecht began her career with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where she developed programs for special needs children. In 1975, she joined the newly formed University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. She worked for a brief period in business development for Corning Medical & Scientific, then returned to health care administration and medical education. Ms. Albrecht served as Administration Director for Cardiology at MGH, Associate Director of Pediatrics at BU Medical Center and Executive Director of the Beth Israel Medical Group in Boston. She held teaching appointments in Family & Community Medicine at UMass Medical Center, BU Medical School and Tufts School of Medicine. In addition to her active role in the health care community, Ms. Albrecht volunteered with the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, MSPCA-Angell Animal Medical Center, Springwell Elder Services, the Executive Service Corps in Boston and the Wellesley Friendly Aid Society. She enjoyed lifelong interests in music, photography and the out-of-doors. Interment was private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
