I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Barrie's passing when my sister called me tonight. Dr. Barrie saved my life when I was six years old. For days, I'd been complaining that "my tummy hurt..." and it was only when my mother took me to Emerson Hospital that fateful summer day in 1977, did anyone realize that my appendix had ruptured and turned gangrenous. That "anyone" who quickly made the diagnosis and rushed me in to surgery was none other than Dr. Barrie. I was in the hospital for several weeks and would hear him paged over the intercom system, "Dr. Barrie, 211. Dr. Barrie, 211." Not realizing that the 211 was a phone extension he needed to pick up, I thought that was his name and would refer to him as such. "Dr. Barrie, 211" became the same name that my family would call him whenever he'd stop by my family's pharmacy (Snow's) in Concord.

We're holding the entire Barrie family in our hearts and are praying you always feeling the wonderful Dr. Barrie 211's loving energy surround you.

John and Susan,
My condolences, your father spoke highly of both of you. He was a wonderful person. Peace to you both of you and your extended family.

Christine,
You know how very fond I was of your husband. Dr Barrie was one of a kind, a person who could always keep a conversation interesting. I was just asking him how you were doing when I saw him last month at the gathering for Dr First's retirement. As awful as it is to lose him at this time Christine, I give thanks he had all these years since his cardiac event in the 90's. The world is certainly dimmer now without him. May your memories carry you through this difficult time. Hugs and prayers to you.

Chris,
Doc and you were my closest friends, as you well know, at The International. Dr. Joe was a true "buddy" of mine and we had many great times on the golf course as well as having great times in the parking lot talking about everyone. I saw him and talked with him just last week which was a blessing. I,too, will miss him. God bless you and your family. Doc and your family will be remembered in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Henry and Loretta Landress
