Is it possible that five years later the friendship of this dear person is still missed more than words can say. Karen was a special person. And her spirit and kindness is sorely missed by those of us who knew her as a dear friend.

I rode with Karen at Powers Stable in Dover in the 60s. She was an awesome rider even as a kid.

I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. I am an alumna of Dana Hall and learned to ride there years ago. Karen's incredible support of the Riding Center made an immeasureable difference to the entire school. This is a terrible loss; I am so sorry for your family.

I met Karen at her home for dinner with my then fiancé (now husband) and his friends. At the time I was just starting my own eventing journey...but I knew what all those medals represented. And knew who Ben Arthur was. It was a dinner and company I will never forget. Thank you for your incredible hospitality, your warmth, your undeniable talent and your important influence in the sport that has become a pivotal part of my life. Very sad to hear of Karen's passing. Karen you are forever one very classy and vibrant woman. Kick on.

I first met Karen in the mid 70's . I was looking for a ride to horse trials at UNH. She went out of her to pick my horse up in Stoughton and drop us off after the event. Then she offered me a stall at Stonehenge.Karen opened a door for me that gave me the opportunities I never imagined.Karen was tenacious, smart and lived life to the fullest. She set an example for us all and I will miss her. My deepest condolences.Betsy

Karen had a unique way of making each person feel like your friendship with her was special and important. She was very understated about the amazing achievements in her life. She cheered on all the competitors at an event. This world is a better place for her having been here. RIP my friend. Razzi

Very sad to hear that Karen had passed away. She was such a huge influence in my life. I loved her zest for life with a very practical view at how she lived. I always enjoyed her stories and she was always so generous of her time to listen to my stories and give me her take on the situation. Thank you for the warmth, love and fun that we had many years ago. With love- Suzanne Dempsey
