STEPHEN C. POHLIG

POHLIG, Stephen C. 64, passed away peacefully on Friday April 14, 2017 after a yearlong struggle with gallbladder cancer. Steve was born in Washington, D.C. and was the loving husband of Bonnie Baker Pohlig of Concord and the devoted father of Ellie and Katie Pohlig. Brother of Michael Pohlig of Leona, CA. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He received his PhD in Engineering from Stanford University with the Class of 1977. He spent his career working at MIT Lincoln Lab, where he was well-respected as an electrical engineer. In the engineering community, he was well known for developing the Pohlig-Hellman algorithm which was used for computing logarithms and which was significant in the early days of internet cryptography and security. A Memorial Service celebrating Steve's life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Parish in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston Center. Private family interment will be held in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
