I never knew or met Bill, though he sounds a wonderfully spirited man. My only encounter with Bill came through sending him an email, around 2005, commenting on the unique sound of the lyricon. I'd recently experienced this sound for the first time when watching a recording of Tower of Power from the 80s. Far from simply replying, Bill posted an original lyricon brochure across the Atlantic to me, completely at his own expense. This meant a lot to me then, and it's not something I'll forget. Best wishes, I'm sure he is missed.

If only people knew all of the pop tunes with a lyricon on them. A rare gift to be an instrument inventor. Thanks

So sorry to hear about Bill's passing. I first met him 24 years ago as a young sales engineer out of college and supported Bill in the territory. I have great memories of him as such a kind soul with a great sense of humor. He always had a smile and was so upbeat and positive. Many of us looked up to him and shared many a laugh. I only knew him a few short years, but his name popped into my head today. Funny story - he gave my now wife a Harvard sweatshirt back in 1990 as a gift from Boston on one of his trips back to Austin, TX for a sales conference. She hung on to it and our son found it. Now he wears it as a college student. We always think of Bill when he wears it. Rest in peace Bill - we miss you friend. You left a legacy when people remember you over two decades later. Love, Carl & Kristi Nybro (Austin, TX)

Brought my first Lyricon the day of Bob Moog's funeral and on the 7th of February I finally brought a Wind Synthesizer Driver. Thought of Bill on the way home and decided I should try and contact him. My thoughts go out to his family. He will be greatly missed.

Bill --besides a wonderful & kind man--was an absolute genius! His invention, the Lyricon, (an electronic wind musical instrument) remains unequaled more than 30 years after he invented them. Every note I play from these extraordinary & matchless instruments speak of the greatness of his brilliant mind & uncompromising artistic vision. I will miss him very much... My deepest condolences to his dear wife Judy. May God's grace & peace wrap you & the whole family in this difficult time. God bless you all!

The Bernardi's lived across from us, and I remember William Sr., Nonna, Gilda, Ray, William, Paty and Eddie. They were great people. Never forget the raspberries growing in the back yard. Hey, Gilda, wherever you are, I have discovered an old tape recording of your father singing and you playing the piano. Would you like to have it?
