CATHERINE FARRINGTON Obituary

FARRINGTON, Catherine (Lysaght) 70, of Plymouth, formerly of Scituate, passed away peacefully at her home on January 30, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of William, and mother to five sons, William and Mary of Hingham, Gregory and Gail of Mansfield, Robert and Donna of Weston, CT, Peter of South Boston and the late David. She will continue to inspire her seven grandchildren: Joseph, Dominique, Victoria, Matthew, Benjamin, Claire and Anne. She is survived by five siblings: Jane DeGange (Jack) of Lebanon, NH, Edith Sullivan (Richard) of Westfield, Peter Lysaght (Doris) of Brookline, Patricia Fresina (John) of Bedford and Claire Stearns (Waring) of Portland, ME, and siblings Hank and Paul (deceased). Cathie grew up in Scarborough, ME, attended Bates College, and was a wonderful sister, wife, mother and "Grammie" in Scituate and Montville, CT. Cathie leaves but one request; that those she loved continue to enjoy some of her favorite things: a new book, a day on the beach in Maine, golf, a little bit of chocolate, grandkids, a friend with a good joke, a glass of red wine, family meals and sharing life with people you love. Calling Hours will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., SCITUATE, on Tues., Feb. 4th from 4PM-8PM. Funeral Service from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home on Wed. Feb. 5th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity, Scituate at 10AM. Burial in St. Marys Cemetery. To the Farrington Family,
I can't believe Cathy is no longer with us on this earthly plane. I really feel she is looking down on us from above with that special smile ( peaceful, yet looking like she knows a secret that you don't). I met her when I was a teenager and started babysitting for her when all the kids were small, as did my two sisters, and it really seems like yesterday in some ways. God bless . My thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially with my birthday buddy, Willie (Sept. 2nd) Love, Sue Hamacher (Colchester, VT)

Dear Will and all the family, Cathie was one of the wittiest, nicest people I knew at Bates College. She was two years younger but we were in the same dorm her freshman year. And she looks just as radiant in the photo as she did 50 years ago in `62. My prayers and love surround you.

February 5, 2014

Will and family, I am surprised and very saddened to hear about Cathie. When you moved to Montville it was nice to have been included in family holiday parties at your home. During the years of the marching band competitions nearby at the Academy, Cathie would remind me of the date so the fireworks at the end wouldn't scare the beejeepers out of us like it did the first time when the sitter thought the house was under attack! I remember her tip that I think she said came from her doctor years ago, to enjoy a beer while cooking dinner. My deepest sympathies to you.
