John Hargraves Obituary

71, of Bourne, MA and Edgewater, FL, died at a family gathering July 3, 2006, at the summer home of his brother in Biddeford, ME. He was born June 23, 1935 in Winchester, MA, second son of the late Gordon F. and Dorothy L. (Metchear) Hargraves. A Sales Engineer of industrial products for 40 years, he was most recently employed by Omni Services in Worcester. Mr. Hargraves was a member of Aurora Lodge in Fitchburg, the Scottish Rite of the Valley of Boston, and the Aleppo Temple. He was active in the Weary Travelers on Cape Cod. He was a former member of the Board of Health for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate, Jean L. (Campbell) Hargraves; five children, Pamela J. Scipione and her husband Donald of North Yarmouth, ME, John A. Hargraves and his wife Rennee of Westminster, MA, Douglas G. Hargraves and his wife Debra of Lunenburg, MA, Shelley A. Hargraves of Westminster, MA, and Katherine Bergin of Walpole, MA; thirteen grandchildren, Julie Hachey, Scott Newman, Dustin Hargraves, Jennie Swanson, Michael Hargraves, Lauren Hargraves, Benjamin Scipione, Matthew Scipione, Jonathan Zukowski, Christopher Zukowski, Joseph Nardelli, Michael Nardelli, and Amanda Nardelli; five great grandchildren; two brothers, MA State Representative, Robert S. Hargraves of Groton, and James H. Hargraves of Ashby; one sister, Nancy L. (Hargraves) Catalini of Ashby. He was predeceased by an older brother, Gordon F. Hargraves, Jr. in 1937. The funeral will be held Friday, July 7, at 11:00 A.M. in Ashby Congregational Church, 126 New Ipswich Rd., Ashby. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 5, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Thursday, July 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aleppo Shriners, 99 Fordham Rd., Wilmington, MA 01887-0578.
