DAVID BRET CARLSON

CARLSON, David Bret Of Falmouth, passed away on March 2, 2013 at the age of 94, at the JML Care Center, where he had been living after suffering medical reverses during the course of the past year. Born in Jamestown, New York, on August 16, 1918, the son of David Albert Carlson and Gerda (Johnson) Carlson, Bret was a graduate of Brown University, summa cum laude, Class of 1940, and Harvard Law School, cum laude Class of 1943(47), where he was an Editor of the Harvard Law Review. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, and served with distinction in the Pacific Theater as the captain of a sub chaser, SC 1054. Bret practiced law for 50 years with Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City, where he was a partner, and resided for many years in New Canaan and Fairfield, Conn. before retiring to the Cape in 1997. Bret was predeceased by his wife Jane Tapley Carlson, who died in 2003. He is survived by his son Christopher T. Carlson and his wife Jane Fisher Carlson of Weston, his son David Kurt Carlson and his wife Elizabeth Carlson of Croton-on Hudson, New York, his daughter Nancy Carlson Berners-Lee of Lexington, his grandchildren Caroline T. Carlson, Jonathan F. Carlson, Alice Olivia Berners-Lee, David Benjamin Berners-Lee and Louisa Carlson, his sister Janis Ruslink of Jamestown, New York, and his dear friend Anne Sawyer of Woods Hole. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the First Congregational Church on the Village Green in Falmouth.
