Dear Ellen and family,
I was stunned and saddened to hear that Dan had died. I haven't been in touch with Hinda for some time; Karen e-mailed me with the notice from the Globe.
My thoughts are with you all at this time. I know you will carry on, though; the Semonoff clan is made of strong stuff.

Ellen and family, Danny was always like a big brother to me when I spent endless hours at the Meltzer home as one of Susan's close friends. Later, his old bedroom became my home away from home when I spent extended time visiting Susan during our college years. I am so sorry for your loss - he was a lively, funny and vibrant man. I am very sorry to hear about Daniel's passing. I was in the lab school with Danny from kindergarten through high school graduation and have fond memories of him. He was a very nice guy, whom I have always remembered fondly. My condolences to family and friends. Judy L

To all who loved Danny, especially Ellen and his sons--about whom I heard so much the last time I saw Danny, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Danny--ever the pioneer--was one of a small group of lovely--and beloved-- boys who chose to depart the tiresome Ivy of the Harvard dorms to live among us girls on the Radcliffe Quad in 1971ish. Danny was in my dorm, Whitman Hall, and a great favorite of everyone. I lost touch with him after college, only to have the great good fortune to find Danny again a few years ago when I retired from practice and was volunteering as a coach for women students at HLS. He was one of the people--and lawyers--I admired most in my life. As warm and generous as he was wise and brilliant. As Martha put it, "a true mensch". I will miss him very much. To the Meltzer Family
I am overwhelmingly sad at the news of the death of Danny. He was one of my absolute best friends thoughout my Lab School High School career. I have our photo from Senior Prom when David Levi and I double dated with Danny. He was such a kind , thoughtful, supportive friend in every way. Brilliant and humble. I loved everything about him. Dinners at his home were always an event for me..and I loved being in that home. So my heart aches and I send all my love to the entire family.
