So sorry about Uncle Dan's passing. I was hoping to have seen him at the service for his brother Henry last week in NY. It's been a long time since I last saw Dan, but I'm sure he is at peace now.

Dear Ellenmarie, Pam, Patrick, Dan Jr. and Family,
My heart is broken over the loss of your dear Father, Grandfather, and my cherished friend. I was so fortunate to get to know your Dad over a year ago and we became fast friends...he inspired me every day with his unwavering spirit and determination. He was always full steam ahead, and never one to complain or say 'why me'...he constantly looked forward to what was next in life, and was never content to let the day go by without doing something productive, whether it was reading a good book, writing to an old friend, going to Happy Hour, or wowing the crew at Edelweiss Village with his Trivia skills.....he always came out on top, and each day I would visit, I would ask how he did in Trivia the night before, and he'd give me a look, with a twinkle, and a grin, and I would guess # 1 again, and he would humbly nod his head. It turned into a joke, where I didn't even have to ask anymore.. when I'd go see him in the morning, he'd look up at me, and just smile and nod, yes. ..I'll miss my dear friend, his quick wit, his storytelling skills, his many kindnesses and I will always feel blessed to have been part of his life...my sincere condolences to all the Gallagher's on your loss and may your memories of your Dad give you comfort in all the days ahead...love Beth

I remember fondly how Uncle Dan came out to visit his big brother, Ed, when he was in the hospital during Ed's last days. (See photo: Dan, Art, and Joe are singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" with Ed.) Dan also came out for Ed's funeral. It was wonderful to see him there. Madeleine and I send our prayers for Uncle Dan and his family and wish we could be there now.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

To the Gallagher Family,
I write from FL to share my sadness with you all on the passing of your Dad and Dan, a good and caring person and my pal and law partner of days gone by. We had a lot of fun together. His genuine warmth and wit, his wisdom and "street smarts" were among his any assets.
I feel blessed to have been his friend, and you were blessed to be his family.
Please know of my prayers for Dan's peace and for your strength at this time of shared heartache.
