I was a teacher at Medfield H.S. from 1961-'68, and a colleage of George's. However, always during my tenure in education, continued a distant association with my former friends and colleagues in the Medfield P.S. The last time I socialized with George was when we attended the 40th reunion of the Medfield H.S. class of '67. Along with fellow colleagues John Cuoco, Robert Hersey, Bernard Shea, and our fellow students we had a great time reminiscing and embellishing old time and experiencing. Since retiring as a professional educator after 48 years of service, some of the most happy and memorable times of my career were during my years at Medfield H.S. (i.e., when we were all feldglings spreading our wings at the beginning of our careers in education). My memories of George as a colleague and friend are both happy and positive. I remember him as an excellent teacher who was truly respected by his colleagues and most important the students who were lucky enough to have him as a teacher and/or coach. Since leaving Medfield H.S. and moving on in 1968, the times I saw George were few, but I always enjoyed seeing and remensing old times with him when our paths crossed. When I heard of his passing, especially as it relates to my memory of the last time I saw him, need-less-to-say I was both shocked and saddened. My prayers and thoughts are for George and his family during this time of great loss in your lives. May he be united with the many colleagues we both shared during our tenures at Medfield H.S. who have since passed on (i.e., Tom Blake, Jim Morris, Jack McGrath, Bob Hersey to mention a few). God Bless and keep George and be with his family.

Our sincere condolances to the Callahan family. George and Francis (Buzzy) and many other Needham skaters met to play ice hockey on Rosemary Lake. George was an awesome skater and a talented hockey player. Both he and Francis attended BC High School and were honor roll students. His
contagious smile and kind ways are always in my mind.
His good ways influenced everyone who knew him. We will all miss him dearly. Sincerely , Bob and Cathy Toran

Dear Diane and Family; George was a special friend; patient, kind, and true.
I have many great memories and stories of playing golf with George and his brother Dan. One special memory:
Byron Nelson, watching us play one day stated “George had the best swing at Ponkapoag”. Can't remember what Byron said about my swing, but George, who would always give people a piece of his heart rather than a piece of his mind, would turn to his brother Dan and say that was a perfect “Catenary”. Who am I to question a math teacher? I will a;ways remember George as a person who's face was always full of sunshine and a smile for one and all. Playing golf with George and his brother Dan was one of the greatest pleasures in life one could ask for.
Our Deepest Condolences.

I remember Mr. Callahan well from his days teaching in Medfield. Math was never my strongest subject, but I took his trigonometry class senior year, and he made everything make so much sense. RIP.

Callahan Family: George coached both of my sons (Patrick and Bobby) when they played for MHS Golf. He was a real decent man who was well respected by the players and parents. To think that he went through the entire 2013 golf season with his illness....it says worlds about his character and will. You should be proud. God Bless!
