Dear Marcia,

I only recently heard about Grantley's passing, and I wanted to express my condolences. I consider the two of you my "buddies", and I am sorry we lost touch with each other. Grantley and I collaborated on MBE issues when he was at the MBTA and I was at Massport. Then the three of us did our NAACP work. When I think of the annual MLK Breakfast in Boston, I think fondly of Grantley's work with corporations. I have great memories and I pray you are finding comfort in all your memories.

Love,

Robin

Grantley M. Grant was a friend and a mentor during the time we worked at the MBTA. He was as fine an individual as I have ever known.

To his family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Cousin Marcia:

I am going to remember Grantley's laugh, his fondness of fishing, and the fun reunion you both and Cousin Sheila arranged for us on the Cape a few years ago! Grantley will always be with you. He had a loving, generous, and sincere heart. He was unique. You were blessed to be matched with someone just like you.

With all my love, Cousin Marguerite
