Hi everyone, this is young Charlie now in Texas. I’d like to give all of you my deepest condolences for our lose. I’ve had Jack and Gert in my prayers for some time now. I won’t be able to come up there to be with you all during this time, but I will have all of you on my mind and in my prayers for quite some time to come now. Please tell Gertie and anyone I missed with this that my heart goes out to all of you. I hope we all make it through the grieving process that’s before us as peacefully and gracefully as possible. I know that Jack has been a great man for a long, long time. It’s up to us to keep that memory of this great man alive for a long, long time.

I know that some of you don’t know who I am because we never met, but I am one of Marie and Charles’s children from East Boston. I remember Jack and the kids all coming over to our house to visit Grammy and Pop, and I remember going over to Jack and Gert’s place in Melrose with Grammy and Pop. I’m about Rickey’s age, so he and I got into and out of trouble together in both houses. I remember the wonderful meals we shared in both houses and the music with the Doherty’s at Jack and Gert’s house. And then who can forget the sharing of Jack’s pictures every time!

I’m sorry I’m not in a position to send flowers or anything, but I know where there is a Catholic Church and I’ll get a Mass said for him.

All my Love,

Charlie

Uncle Jack,
You gave me great childhood memories. You let me help develop pictures in your dark room. Now I have all those wonderful pictures of my Dad and family to cherish for ever.
