Rudolph Satlak Obituary

SATLAK, Rudolph J. "Rudy" 87 years of age, of Arlington, March 17, 2010. Retired Newton North High School teacher & Administrator. Mr. Satlak graduated from Boston College in 1956 and recieved his Masters Degree from Boston University the same year. He was a business education teacher, administrative assistant & chairman of the business department at Newton North High School, retiring in 1990. Mr Satlak was on the forefront of the computer age. He developed & taught the first keypunch & computer-programming courses at Newton North High School. One of his special projects in the field of early computer technology was having his students build their own operational computer. In 1968 he was selected as a merit teacher. Mr. Satlak served in the U.S. Navy as a celestial navigator, an instructor and in a Port Director Unit in the Pacific during World War II. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Beloved husband of the late Frances J. (Fitzpatrick). Devoted father of Elaine Satlak of Ashland, Janice Satlak-Mott of Winchester, Carole Satlak of Wakefield & Joseph Satlak & wife Candace of Belmont. Loving grandfather of Jonathan Mott of Winchester. Brother of Henry of Sioux Falls, S.D. & James of Washington, D.C. Relatives & friends are invited to attend Rudy's Funeral Mass on Monday at 10 a,m. in St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester. Burial at V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial gift in Rudy's name to the Stone Zoo c/o Zoo New England, 1 Franklin Park Rd., Boston, Ma 02121.
