William Hogan Obituary

HOGAN, Rev. William D., S.S.J. In Baltimore, MD, entered the loving arms of Christ on June 14, 2009, in his 88th year. Born in Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph H. and Grace S. Hogan. He grew up in the shadow of St. Andrew's Church in Forest Hills, MA. and graduated from English High School Class of 1938. Ordained in 1951, Father Hogan was a dedicated Josephite priest for 58 years serving the African American community in parishes in Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama. Survived by his sister, Mary Louise, and her husband Joseph Stanton, of Hyde Park, MA., many nieces and nephews, and friends across the Country. Brother to the late Joseph, Helen (McEwen), Thomas, Charles, David, and Elizabeth (Betty Bugbee). The Mass of Jesus Christ the High Priest will be held at his late residence, the St. Joseph Manor in Baltimore, MD, on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 19, 2009, at St Joseph Manor at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Father Hogan's memory to the Josephite Fathers, 1130 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD 21202-3802.

Fr. Bill was my father's youngest brother and therefore my uncle. I admired his dedication to his people over the many years of his service. He was an inspiration to all the family. His warmth and smile will be missed.
