Harlow & Barbara were the most generous of hosts to foxhunts for decades. Harlow made sure every detail came to fruition - even driving to pick up scent in Dover to get the line laid in time.
Harlow's jump designs were published in the Y.H. Pedlar way back and we employed most of them for the Hunter Trials held on their property.
Our strongest memory of Harlow is of him leaping off his horse on a frigid November day to save Mission Valley Sable from a watery death in the iced- over pond at Tonry's.

Harlow and Barbara shared their wonderful Yorkfield Farm polo field with the Byfield Polo Club since 1995. Their kindness and generousity has made a deep impact on many polo players in New England. The deal was made on a handshake and the cost was a promise that we would not leave tail tape or trash behind!
Harlow will be sorely missed.

Harlow's infectious joy of horses and riding made life long lovers of fox hunting and polo for Leo and me. As the Waitsfield "fox" for the Green Mountain Hounds I truely enjoyed the race to stay ahead of Harlow and the hounds. THe rare time I was caught there was his wry smile and that "gotcha" look. Leo loved to play polo and tells wonderful stories of many a day on the field with Harlow.

We wanted to express our condolences to Mr Carpenter's family. We are very grateful for his contributions toward the formation of the Green Mt Hounds. Today we continue to enjoy the beautiful state of Vermont with our horses and hounds.

I benefit from his enduring legacy by hunting with the Green Mountain Hounds today. He was clearly a man of enormous talent and vision.
