GARY LAWTON Obituary

LAWTON, Gary E. 78 years old, of Acton, died on February 14th, 2017. He is survived by his wife Sarah (Bunny) Lawton of Acton; daughter Becky Lawton of Charlotte, NC; son Andrew Lawton and his wife Tina and two grandchildren of Agoura Hills, CA; and brother Lawrence E. Lawton of Willow Valley, PA. Gary grew up in Springfield, PA, where his parents ran Play Hill Day Camp, graduated from Dickinson College and then joined Westminster Press, selling religious books. He subsequently worked for Johns Hopkins University Press, Harvard University Press and Harper Collins. He loved the bookselling world and retired in 2003. He was very active in volunteering at Emerson Hospital in Concord, St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Acton & playing golf. A memorial service and celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 435 Central St., Acton, MA 01720. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary may be made to St Matthew's UMC or Emerson Hospital. Memorial page www.actonfuneralhome.com
