JOSEPH MICHAEL CONNOLLY

CONNOLLY, Joseph Michael 81, son of the late Bridget and Michael Connolly, born in Dorchester, longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away with his loving wife and children by his side on June 15, 2017. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Downey) Connolly for 44 years; cherished father of Bill & Jennie Connolly of Arlington, David Connolly & Stephanie O'Brien of East Boston, the late Christopher Connolly & Kathryn Messina of Stoneham, and Clare Connolly & Oliver Heynes of Cambridge; adored grandfather of Ryan, Shae, James, and Maren Connolly; brother of Mary & John Keating, John & Phyllis Connolly, James & Lerliene Connolly, Leo & Joan Connolly, and Peg & Bill Christie. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Joe dedicated ten years of his life as a Catholic Priest, following his study at the St. John's Seminary in Brighton (class of '62). His faith remained a driving force in his life, and in addition to staying active in the church community, he also instilled a strong sense of faith in his family. As a Probation Officer of the Middlesex Family Court for 34 years, Joe was deeply committed to his work of supporting families to be strong, loving, and nurturing units.

Joe and his family are especially grateful for the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for him with incredible compassion. Joe's warmth and positive spirit was felt by all he encountered. He was, and will remain, an inspiration to us all. He will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday June 20th at 10 AM at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham. Visitation: Monday, June 19th, 4-8 PM at the Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home, 4 Common St., STONEHAM. Relatives and friends invited. Private burial in Winthrop Cemetery at a later date.
