Dr. Philip Solomon

Formerly of Boston, died suddenly in La Jolla, CA, on Friday, May 31, 2002, at age 95. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Solomon was Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Psychiatry at Boston City Hospital from 1952 until 1969 when he moved to La Jolla, CA, where he became Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCSD Medical School. Author of many papers and a textbook of psychiatry, Dr. Solomon was one of the original researchers in Sensory Deprivation and founded the College Mental Health Center in Boston in 1968. He leaves his wife, Dr. Susan T. Kleeman, his daughter, Susan Thurman Solomon of Boston and stepson, Jeffrey Thurman Kleeman of Los Angeles.
